PUT YOUR DANCING SHOES ON, TO KEEP THE FLAME ALIVE!
Join Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi & Justin Langer for the dance of a lifetime to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF).
Keep the Flame Alive kicked off the year with an extremely successful business launch event, attended by the Lord Mayor of Perth, Lisa Scaffidi and over 80 businesses from around Perth. It is now time for the rest of Perth to put on their dancing shoes and have some fun!
The Keep the Flame Alive dance day ‘Dance for a Cure” is planned for April 6 from 11am, with three separate locations around Perth! You can join in at Forrest Place, Perth Cultural Centre or the Northbridge Piazza.
Keep the Flame Alive is the evolution of 2012’s Flame for Aline that saw 700 people dancing in a flash mob in Forrest Place. Its primary focus is to raise awareness of the need for Childhood Cancer research.
“Along with the Lord Mayor, we’re excited to announce that Justin Langer, our Patron for Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF), will also be in attendance at the dance event” said CLCRF chairman Geoff Cattach. “We might even see Justin show off his dancing moves” he added.
The dance event will be filmed at the three locations, and broadcast live on screens. This will allow all participants to see each other during this momentous event and will also be streamed live to YouTube thanks to the Central TAFE Live Broadcasting Team.
Beverley Margaret School of Dance have taken on the challenge to choreograph our 2014 Keep the Flame Alive event, creating all the moves for the general public. The entire choreography can be found on the Keep the Flame Alive website, as well as full dress rehearsal day to be held on Saturday March 23. So get online, register and start learning your moves!
This amazing event supports not only the CLCRF but encourages fitness, with all ages and experience levels getting outdoors and having fun, while being active.
The dance event will also hear the Keep the Flame Alive song for the first time, which has been written specifically for this event by talented local singer and songwriter Rose Parker. The Perth dance community has continued to provide massive support, and along with our wonderful team of volunteers and this is an event not to miss.
